As of January 1, 2017, when a motion to vacate/set aside/correct sentence under 28 U.S.C. § 2255 is filed, the manual opening of a civil case and dual entry of documents into both the criminal and related civil case will no longer be required. All filings should be made into the criminal case only (unless otherwise directed by the court).
 
Any motions filed prior to January 1, 2017 will continue to require dual entry into both the criminal and related civil case.
