NOMINATION OF THE HONORABLE KEA RIGGS TO FILL UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT JUDICIAL VACANCY IN THE DISTRICT OF NEW MEXICO

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - President Donald J. Trump has nominated New Mexico State District Judge Kea Riggs to fill the judicial vacancy in Albuquerque on the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.  For the past four and a half years, Judge Riggs has served as a general jurisdiction judge in the Fifth Judicial District Court in Roswell and before becoming a state district judge, she served fourteen years as the part time U.S. Magistrate Judge in Roswell.  Judge Riggs is well qualified for the position of United States District Judge.

Considering the large and ever increasing caseloads in the federal courts along the Southwest Border and considering the current judicial vacancies in the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, I am optimistic and hopeful that the United States Senate will expeditiously consider Judge Riggs’ nomination through the Senate Confirmation process.
